本科就读于清华大学，于1986年获工学学士学位；研究生阶段就读于中国人民大学，于1989年获经济学硕士学位。毕业后曾留校任教一年。随后出国留学于美国俄亥俄州立大学学习，导师为计量经济学界著名的G.S. Maddala教授。1995年获经济学硕士和博士学位。1995年毕业后曾在世界银行政策研究部工作，主要从事经济增长与收入分配方面的国际比较研究，并参与世界经济论坛的1996年国家竞争力排名报告的编写，承担主要数据统计与分析工作。
1996年至今在香港中文大学商学院决策科学与企业经济学系任教，讲授经济学方面的本科, 研究生, MBA以及EMBA课程，并担任博士生导师。曾在清华大学，西安交通大学，上海国家会计学院，武汉大学，西南交通大学等多所大学讲授MBA和EMBA课程。
主要研究方面为时间序列计量经济理论，宏观经济增长和收入分配理论，金融市场，以及中国经济发展。研究成果曾发表于 Journal of Econometrics, Economic Journal, Journal of Business and Economic Statistics, China Economic Review 等国际学术刊物，至今共发表学术论文四十余篇。
Dr. Li Hongyi
Received B. Sc. degree in engineering from Tsinghua University in 1986; received Master of Art degree in economics from Renmin University in 1989; worked in Department of International Economics in Renmin University for one year as an assistant professor. Studied econometrics under the supervision of Professor G.S. Maddala in the Department of Economics in the Ohio State University and received Ph. D. degree in economics in 1995.
Worked in the Policy Research Department in the World Bank in 1995-1996. Main research area involves economic growth and income inequality. Participated in the statistical analysis of the “1996 Competitiveness Report” published by the World Economic Forum.
Joined the Department of Decision Sciences and Managerial Economics in the Chinese University in Hong Kong in 1996 till present. Currently Associate Professor in Economics, teaching microeconomics, macroeconomics, managerial economics, Chinese economy, econometrics, time series forecasting, business statistics, multivariate analysis, etc., teaching students at all levels of undergraduate students, Master and Ph.D. students, MBA and EMBA students, received teaching awards in different years. Taught various MBA and EMBA classes in Tsinghua University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Shanghai National Accounting Institute, Wuhan University,
Southwest Jiaotong University, etc.
Main research areas: time series econometrics, economic growth, financial market, Chinese economy. Published more than 40 research papers in Journal of Econometrics, Economic Journal, Journal of Business and Economic Statistics, China Economic Review, etc.
